Uber has a new pilot program in Massachusetts called Pool Pass. The cost of Pool Pass is a flat $75 dollars and each ride in flat $2 dollars within the zones of Downtown, South End, Seaport, Southie, Savin Hill, Cambridge, Somerville and Charlestown
Uber Pool Pass riders will be unaffected by surge pricing and will be able to use Pool Pass for up to 40 trips in the month of June.
Uber will sell 100 Pool passes from Wednesday 5/25 to Friday 5/27 from 9am to 7pm. Users can place an order similar to calling an Uber within the app. Uber will then charge $75 dollars and will send a confirmation email of the purchase
Uber is known to run experiments in one city and if they see traction will roll it out to a broader set of cities. Uber Pool is an example, starting in San Francisco and is now operating in most of the major cities. Uber eats was also tested in Los Angeles and has launched more broadly and has it’s own app.
