SFGate reported that Waze is rolling out Waze carpool to 25,000 employees across select companies in the Bay Area. Waze Rider is a separate app that allows commuters the ability to request a ride from drivers who are commuting on a similar route.

Waze is suggesting riders pay based on the standard mileage rate set by the IRS – .54 cents per mile. Waze is not currently taking a commission unlike Uber and Lyft who charge drivers 20%.

How does compare to Lyft & Uber? We did a sample commute from one of the select companies – Adobe, 345 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA, United States from Palo Alto, CA, United States.
