Autopilot
Tesla’s Autopilot system has seen significant advancements over the years, with each new version bringing more sophisticated capabilities. Here’s an updated timeline of the Autopilot hardware versions:
- AP 1.0: Introduced between September 2014 and October 2016, this was Tesla’s first foray into autonomous driving technology.
- AP 2.0: Launched from October 2016 to August 2017, this version brought more advanced features and improvements over the previous version.
- AP 2.5: This version was in Tesla vehicles from August 2017 to April 2019, offering further enhancements and refinements.
- AP 3.0: Starting in May 2019, Tesla began shipping cars with their custom-built Full Self-Driving (FSD) computer. This version has the same cameras and wiring as 2.5 but utilizes a custom-built computer developed by Tesla.

Did the Tesla referral program end?
No, the Tesla referral program has not ended. As of 2024, it has been rebranded as the “Refer and Earn. This program allows Tesla owners to share their passion for Tesla products and earn rewards when they refer new customers to Tesla.
Here’s how it works:
- As a Tesla owner, every time you refer a new customer to Tesla, you earn Referral Credits, and the person you referred may receive Tesla Credits or cash awards and exclusive referral benefits with their purchase.
- You may also earn Tesla Credit when you purchase additional qualifying Tesla products as a thank-you for being a loyal Tesla owner.
- Tesla Credit can be redeemed for Tesla shop items, accessories, software upgrades, and new Tesla vehicles.
Does it work for the CyberTruck?
CyberTruck has a limited supply as Tesla ramps up its production and is not currently part of the Tesla referral program. We expect this to be the case for all of 2024, and we would expect it to join the referral program in late 2025.
What about the Tesla Powerwall, Roof, and Solar?
Tesla currently offers $500 off each product when you use a referral code.
Do you still receive supercharging credit?
You don’t get supercharging credit, but you can use Tesla credit earned through the referral program for supercharging.
